The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced the voluntary recall of Pierre's brand Dutch Chocolate Ice Cream due to a labeling error.

The FDA said Pierre's Ice Cream Co. of Cleveland initiated the recall because the ice cream might contain undeclared peanut butter cup candies, posing a health risk to people allergic to peanuts.

The recalled 56-ounce purple containers are identified with the code 07320 printed on the rim of the lid. The ice cream was distributed in Ohio, Michigan, Western Pennsylvania and Indiana.

Consumers are advised to discard the ice cream and send the lid of the empty container to the company for a full refund.

Consumers with questions can contact Pierre's at 216- 432-1144.
