The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced the voluntary recall of Food For Life brand spelt grain bread due to a labeling error.

The FDA said 2,241 cases of bread were recalled by the Food For Life Baking Co. of Corona, Calif., because the bread contains undeclared spelt grain, a hybrid of wheat that can pose a health risk for people allergic to such ingredients.

The recalled frozen products were sold nationwide through health food distributors and natural food retailers in 24 oz. light blue packages. The products were labeled "Food For Life, Wheat Alternative Spelt Bread" or "Food For Life, Fruit Juice Sweetened Spelt Bread" with lot numbers H1847, H2042, H2136, H2435, H2872, H2974, H3224, H3460 or I0485.

Consumers can return unopened products for a refund or can contact the company for further information at 800-797-5090.
