The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced the recall Wednesday of Heritage Cheese Ranch Peppercorn Cheese Curd because of a labeling error.

The New York State Agriculture Department found the cheese curd contained undeclared eggs, posing a risk to people allergic to eggs.

The cheese curd, sold in 8-ounce and 16-ounce packages with various "sell by" dates, was sold in Upstate New York.

Consumers who have purchased the recalled cheese curd should return product to the place of purchase.
