Newly released federal figures, as of Nov. 30, 2013, show more people are picking private insurance plans or being routed to Medicaid programs in states with Democratic leaders who have fully embraced the federal health care law than in states where Republican elected officials have derisively rejected what they call "Obamacare." A poll finds that Americans who already have health insurance are blaming President Barack Obama's health care law for their rising premiums and deductibles.

The Associated Press-GfK poll found that nearly half the people with job-based or other private coverage say their policies will be changing next year—mostly for the worse. That means higher costs through premiums, deductibles or copayments.

Nearly 4 in 5 in the poll say the changes are due to the Affordable Care Act.

It's another problem for a president trying to cope with the consequences of a coverage rollout for the uninsured that 3 out of 4 people say has gone poorly.

Of those who said they or a member of their household tried to enroll, just 24 percent said they succeeded.
