FDA recalls Axcil and Desirin
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced the recall of two sexual enhancement products -- Axcil and Desirin -- because of undeclared, ingredients.
Axcil -- described as a "male enhancement" product -- and Desirin -- said to "promote female sexual function" -- are over-the-counter drugs distributed nationwide by TWC Global LLC of Mountain View Calif. The company initiated the voluntary recall after FDA tests found the products contain sildenafil, the active ingredient of a FDA-approved drug to treat erectile dysfunction, as well as two analogs -- sulfosildenafil and sulfohomosildenafil.
The FDA said the undeclared chemicals pose a threat to consumers because they might interact with nitrates found in some prescription drugs.
Both Axcil and Desirin are sold via the Internet in a 15-capsule blister pack packaged in a box.
Consumers with questions can contact the company at 650-575-0828.
