Steaks and ground beef recalled for E.coli

A Detroit firm has recalled more than 13,000 pounds of steaks and ground beef because they may be contaminated with E. coli.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service said the steaks and ground beef recalled by Mark's Quality Meats were produced on Dec. 20, 21, 24 or 26 and were distributed to restaurants in the metropolitan Detroit area.

The agency said the problem was discovered after Mark's Quality Meats submitted a product sample that tested positive at a third-party laboratory.

FSIS said it has received no reports of illness related to these products at this time but anyone who consumed steaks or ground beef in Detroit area restaurants and is experiencing an illness should contact a physician immediately.
