White chocolate baking squares recalled

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced the nationwide recall of Baker's Premium White Chocolate Baking Squares due to possible contamination.

Kraft Foods Inc. issued the recall because the product might be contaminated with salmonella, a bacterium that can cause light-threatening infections.

The recalled 6-ounce packages display UPC 043000252200 and have "best when used by" dates of 31 MAR 2008 XCZ, 01 APR 2008 XCZ, 02 APR 2008 XCZ and 03 APR 2008 XCZ.

The company said the recall involves only Baker's Premium White Chocolate Baking Squares and no other varieties of Baker's White Chocolate or any other Baker's products sold in the United States are involved in the recall.

Consumers with questions can contact the company at 800-310-3704.
