Video: Why do we have wisdom teeth?

Were wisdom teeth ever good for anything?

Maria Papageorge, a professor of oral and maxillofacial surgery at Tufts School of Dental Medicine, says that long ago we needed our third molars—that's what dentists call wisdom teeth—for chewing raw meat and roots.
