Testing individual samples one-by-one will tell doctors whether or not specific patients may or may not have a disease, but it's inefficient for finding single carriers in larger populations.
In this video, CIDD researcher Nita Bharti explains a common method for pooling samples, which can help epidemiologists rapidly process tests from large numbers of potentially infected people.
